Its no big secret or anything. It is mass produced and can be found easily, however I want to let it ride a little longer just for fun. Call me bored http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Do you have a guess?

The inlay looks like the vase is sitting on a highly polished black table and you can see the reflection of the vase.
Good close up shot; what kind of camera? I'm shopping for one, hopefully used, and would like advice. I know nothing...

My camera is a Toshiba PDR-M25 about $150 2 yrs ago. its 2.2 megapizel and I took this picture on its lowest setting. 2.2 mega is enough to make a great 8x10. I wouldnt need anything else. This is the new inlay style for my mandolin. I got it by mail order and was very pleased that it wanst a left over from the old style.

I'm busted http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Legacy Delux. This is a much improvement over the previous headstock inlay. I'm trying to add another pic but it seems Im no better at this computer thingy than I am at the mandolin http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Maybe that's why they made it such a small burst of color. #My Leg. Dlx. is only 'black' for the first 1.5" or so; and my tobacco burst seems a lot "redder" (as in red-brown, not red). Nice mandolin though - too bad about the flame. Mine wasn't nearly as flamed as I expected, but I bought it at a bargain from MK as a '2nd' prior to them moving them out of stores.

Does anyone know what factory makes the MK mandos? While I'm here it would be nice to go check it out http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

somewhere deep in the MK archives, i seem to remember they were specifically made in a korean factory seperate from the other assembly line mandos.

The MK is redder than the picture showes. I think the small burst is a Musicians Friend exclusive. Supposed to look more vintage? It works for me. as far as where they are made. This is what it says on their web site.

We produce our Michael Kelly mandolins in our own factory in Korea. This exclusive facility is what has allowed us to offer mandolins that are noticeably different from the cookie-cutter mandolins. We have implemented a production process that is more similar to the classic building methods and specifications of the legendary mandolins of decades long past.

Whatever that means http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
