Just ran across this place & don't know if it's been posted before, lotsa great tunes with original, not necessarily politically correct, lyrics:

That rocks. Thanks, not only chords but midis also. What I also like about it is some (maybe all) the songs have a second chord sheet that will help me in learning chords and the chord scale.

Yeah, I thought that was a cool addition as well, seeing just how the progression is put together.

Here's another good one for those obscure lyrics:

I like Perry Terhune's Guitar Masters site - "real book" style lead/chord sheets for many jazz standards:

Enjoy! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Thanks John, that is even better! I wonder how long that would take to print all that material out and make a book out it. There is some great stuff there, about theory and chord substitutions also, stuff inquiring musicians want know...

One of the benefits of (re)learning to read music has been the ability to formulate "chord-melody" arrangements of tunes- first learned on guitar a few years ago & boy was it hard to learn an old dog like me new tricks! #It has really opened up new ways of playing guitar & mando for me. #

Rather than only playing rhythm using tried & true chord shapes, it forces you initially to expand your thinking to come up with solutions that incorporate the melody line on the uppermost string or set of strings- a mind & ear opening experience!

Now, if I could ever fully integrate my playing to include truely creative & innovative lead lines that dance and sparkle around the melody & don't just wander aimlessly... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
