Just moved to the area. Any recommendations for bluegrass mandolin teachers?

Thanks.

If you don`t mind driving to Columbia (about 20 miles west of Balt.) there is a teacher here that does a good job for beginners...How advanced are you with your picking?

Orrin Star gives lessons in Cheverly, MD. A bit of a drive, but for a world-class player it would be worth it once a week.

I can also recommend the Artist Academy of Bluegrass online with Mike Marshall. A great, personalized, teaching method with a world-class teacher you do on your own schedule, in your own home and for a lot less money. I like it better than any personal instruction I've had and I've had a lot.

What's his name? I'd say I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate.

If you don't mind driving to the DC area, I would highly recommend Tom Espinola at the House of Musical Traditions in Tacoma Park. Tom is a great player and an excellent teacher who has been at it for a long time. Tell him hello from me!
