Very nice! Who is the maker? It looks like those violin pegs have internal gears. I like the look of that with the violin scroll.

Interesting... it looks like the maker used a Washburn tailpiece. What kind of strings do you have on it? Also, the rosette looks fantastic. Do you have any closeups of that?

Mr. Stavrakakis:
Are you the same person mentioned in this posting (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?43848-Patrick-vaillant-amp-kepa-junkera&p=577734&viewfull=1#post577734)?

I share your view on Stelios's record. He is a great musician (and also a great luthier), and this record is very good. He was our guest in the Mandopolis Festival 2007, played with a great mandolinist from Creta called Mihalis Stavrakakis.

And here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?24522-Mandopolis&p=405111&viewfull=1#post405111):

On July 7th, Cretan music with Mihalis Stavrakakis, the best mandolin player from Creta. With Stelios Petrakis on lyra and lute, and Pericles Papapetropoulos on bulgari.

Great to see such fantastic and different stuff, both as a player and a builder! Were you inspired by some of the oud builders?

Yia sou Mihalis. Kalaspera from Australia.

Wonderful work. It is good to see mandolins being built and played in Crete. I like its classic traditional look. It would be wonderful to see and hear you play your mandolin with a Laouto.

What is your musical inspiration back there in Crete? From that part of the world I mainly play music from northern Greece, Bulgaria, and Macedonia.

Tell us some more about your background and your interests in music and mandolin making.

Cheers

Andio Nic (I once had a nickname of Nick the Greek-possibly because of my looks and interest in balkan music - perhaps the reason I dropped the K off Nick)

Wow, that is beautiful! I hope you do build more. Are there multiple sound boards? If so, how do you feel they affect the tone and response?

Hello Nikos Australian ... I can say broadly that the music of Crete timbre is almost Mediterranean, obviously with its own characteristics and idioms that defining the language, the traditions and practices generally and morphology ... mountain scenery, mountain of 2500 meters .. plains, canyons, and around the sea. All this YOU inhabited island about 800.000 people. The music is composed of songs and dances. A sample may have from the screws youtyve.

Mihalis: You can send msg to a member named Spruce (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=10946). Koa mostly grows in Hawaii. I am not sure where you can buy it in Europe.

Hi Bill ... these pegs are mechanically with the internal mechanism in each, but the wooden one and gladly work with no problem. Just want a little habit. Thank you for your assessment in my country and I hope to come back!
