Most mandolin versions of tunes can be duplicated on the fiddle and/or banjo. But I really admire the mandolinists who can develop a break that is so unique to the mandolin that it can't be given justice by another instrument. This is IT for me, Mike Compton on Ebeneezer Scrooge:

What's you favorite "unique to the mandolin" break?

Yes absolutely. I try to play everything that way - i.e. in such a way that I cannot be replaced by a guitar, fiddle, or banjo.
