This is the best sounding, easiest playing mandolin I've ever owned.

Fantastic, sounds as good as it looks...to be honest I was looking for an F5L, but got this one, and glad I did.

Nice case, too.

What are the back & sides like?

Nice Curly Maple sides, back and neck, sorry I didn't post a picture, I'll try to later..

Nice looking mandolin, that of the limited edition runs of the Doyle, Steffey, Benson, Bibey models. All were nice, I dug the Bibey simply for its tortoise binding. And that case looks like a dandy.

Congratulations, very nice. The smaller bound f holes and accompanying tone are a winning combination. Reducing the aperture can beef up the bass and mid range on the good ones. I bet it cuts like no other you've had as well.

the limited edition runs of the Doyle, Steffey, Benson, Bibey models.

It is nice looking, and the model is often reviewed as great sounding. I believe the Lawson is (was?) a regular, unlimited production model for Gibson, like the Bush. The Steffey, Benson, and Bibey models were limited to 50, IIRC.
