pogues in london, absolutely incredible. Shane wasent lloking as bad as i thought he would, and could still manage his signature yell. couldnt understand a word he was saying tho. cait did some back up vocals, (fairytale of new york, man you dont meet everyday), and managed to look like a million bucks doing so. Anyone who missed them this time around should make an effort to see them next time, if there is a next time.

Agree, it was a very good gig (Brixton on Monday evening was when I went!). Good bouzouki and mandolin audible in the mix from Terry Woods as well http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I didn't realize they were back together! Anybody see the dvd "If I Should Fall From Grace"? It's hard to believe that Shane is still alive and kicking - God bless 'im! I strum "Down All the Days" on mando. Let's hope for a U.S. tour soon. Cheers

Terry Woods's opening to "The Sick Bed of Cuchulainn" and his fills in "Dirty Old Town" is what got me first interested in the mandolin. Glad to hear Shane is doing better, as he left a very disappointed crowd in Ann Arbor in the late 80s after only one song.

[Edit: after dusting off this disc I found it was Dirty Old Town that had the wonderful tremolo fills, and that A Pair of Brown Eyes was a tenor banjo]

But Terry Woods wasn't even a member of the band when that record (Rum, sodomy & The Lash) was recorded. It's James Fearnley that plays the mandolin on it.

Perhaps you where refering to the live performances though?

I was at the premier of the reunion tour in Glasgow. Had the time of my life and an emotional meltdown. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
