Listening to some vintage Bluegrass Cardinals recordings and am always impressed with Randy's picking. His lines were more than just Monroe stylings or fiddle tunes, he threw in the jazz, like on You Took All The Rambling Out Of Me, where I hear ii-V things, unlike anyone else (at the time). And not to mention his singing, as Lester said:

"Them boys don't nuthin but sing"

I used to pick with Randy when he lived down the road from me. He was a huge influence on me and taught me a ton. He will always be one of my favorites.

One of my favorite CD's is the "Baucom, Bibey, Graham and Haley" one done a billion years ago.

Randy's playing and singing, along with David Parmley's singing, always WERE. to me, the Bluegrass Cardinals!
