Hello all, new member here. I just got back into playing mandolin after joining up with a new band.
A few years ago I picked up a super cheap Oscar Schmidt and never really put in the effort to learn more than a few chords to jam around with a few friends, learning some Irish Trad.
Anyway, I recently picked up a Recording King Resonator Mandolin and REALLY love it. The action is a little high but not the worst. This thing projects!

Welcome to the Cafe!

Nice, what are you guys playing there? Jugband, old time, bluegrass, punk, x-abillie?

Thanks! It's a mix of revved up folk, country, bluegrass, with a touch of punk.
Here's a recording they did before I joined up, so no mandolin on this recording. http://oldhat.bandcamp.com/album/powderhorn
The addition of mandolin to these songs is great so far. Adding that percussive bluegrass type snare sound to a few songs and what not.

I like that sound. I bet that resonator fits in really well.

Thanks Jamie, and yeah, so far it's sounding pretty nice with them.

Your music description sounds like what my nephew is doing out in Albuquerque with his band, The Porter Draw. No mandolin but will probably ask if he's considered such to include a resonator mando.
