Here's a bare-bones birch flatback I finished up last night. These make good camping mandos once they're all fixed up and you can find these all over the place -- usually in really, really bad shape from being stored outside of a case in a hot attic or barn.

Those sold with many different names. Mine is labeled "La Melodia". For a while I was counting brand names on paper labels and stopped counting at around seven. And they do have a remarkable resonance. I am always kind of surprised at its volume. As you say, a fun instrument you don't have to worrty about.

They sure DID sell with tons of names. I don't bother to keep track, myself. Too much extraneous info to get stuck in the head!

I like that old mandolin, love the "tubby" sound they have.

As usual, Jake, you've done a stellar job bringing an old one back to life.

These Regals were usually sold by the dozens to retailers. I have seen some with Lyle tags on them. IIRC Burdwise must have been buying from various sources. I thinkI have even seen a cylinder back Vega with a Burdwise label.

Burdwise bought from all over the place for resale -- some real high grade stuff, some lower grade. I see the name pop up on all sorts of disparate instruments.

p.s. Thanks fellas!
