I'm a newbie to mando orchestras, but LOVE playing mandocello! I am currently fortunate to have been loaned 2--a Gibson from the 20's (no tag) that has a nice sound, but the neck is VERY thick and awkward, and a Larson/Stahl that is wonderful to play. I'm saving for my own, and think I would like to buy a modern instrument--any advice? I have been looking at Webers and talked to Bill at Old Wave, but have yet to play any other models. What kind should I try? Where can I go to try some? Any advice would be appreciated--I am a classical bassist and I LOVE the 'cello sound!

I heard good things about the Ovation.

Mid-Misouri is also probably a good place to look.
