I ran across an old interwoven style leather belt(3/4 in wide) that had dark brown old saddle look and I thought that might make a nice strap for my F style mando.
I could still make out the Levis label in size 32. Must be left over from one of the children. I was born bigger than that.
After removing the buckle I was left with that fold over part and the factory cut hole for the buckle pin. A dollar + pair of leather shoe strings from Wal-Mart would serve as scroll loop material. I stuck both ends of one string through the factory hole from dressed side to undressed back, laying the overage out the sides and closed the buckle flap. A single drop of super glue closed the flap. I then pulled the string and adjusted my scroll loop to the proper size. I wrapped the wild ends around the back and stuck the ends back through to the front. Pulled tight, trimmed close, and super glued at all strategic points. Super glue works great on leather, dries strong and clear. I could probably pull my pickup with it.
On the other end use the already existing buckle pin holes for size adjustments. My guitar playing days made me a strap around the neck guy. Measure the width of your end pin and make the holes a little smaller for a tight fit. A sharp knife can cut the holes to a teardrop shape, being careful not to make them to big.
Allow the glue to dry for a few hours and Ta Da. You got it.
