Sweet lookin banjo Jake, very clean.

I am not sure why we don't hear more about Bacon instruments on the Cafe. About thirty years back I had a friend (actually a sound man for a band I was in) that had a Bacon oval hole which his family had owned for a very long time. I was primarily a guitar player then and did not know a lot about mandolins, but I remember that Bacon sounded much better to me than his import F5 copy.

I have a couple of Bacon mandolins, my best being the artist model (copied by Eastman as the DG2, I think). This mandolin-banjo is esp nice since it has that fancy built-in-donut resonator. I have friend who plays an original 5 string version and they are amasing instruments.

They have an interesting "cluck" to them which is very nice... not the raspy thin high like on a lot of bigger-tonering instruments.

Hmmmm... play Chicken Reel.
