What's the difference between an A5 Flatiron and A5 jr Flatiron. I'll be looking at a 1990A5 jr Flatiorn made in Montana. Is the jr smaller? I've read they sound good in past threads. Any comments? Thanks

the "jr" has parallel tone bars and the other Flatirons are x-braced. There may be some appointment differences, but that's the big one.

Flatiron Jrs have a spruce top, maple back & sides with a Mahogany neck (rather large in size), flat rosewood fretboard and looks to be an ebony nut. The early years had a very handsome kind of root beer colored finish. I have some seen later ones that were sunburst. I am not sure if the wood selection stayed the same in subsequent years.

Never heard a bad sounding Jr. They have good volume equal to about any thing out there. I have owned a Jr. since 1984 and have since bought more expensive custom instruments. My Jr. compares very favorably in tone to it's more expensive roommates.
