I live in Phoenix and i am thinking of driving 6-7 hours to Santa Barbara or San Diego. For next weekend Compton and Long Show/Workshop.. Now has anyone been to one of the workshops.. and if so is it worth the drive? Trying to decide today http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

I've been to several of their 'Duet' shows, as well as one (unfortunately short) workshop. They are both well versed in the Monroe style and tradition. They are a very good show. Their workshop is a broad introduction to Monroe's approach and his stylings on the mandolin.
The question for you is whether of not you will get the same information any closer to your location; my answer: probably not.

Agree with the above post, thought you might want my .02.
I went to their show/workshop last December. It was awesome! Or to put it another way - I'm going to see them again tonight!! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
