I was fortunate enough to get a really great deal on a Kentucky KM-600. It was b-stock that had been damaged in shipping but repaired. The neck had a crack on the treble side that started at the nut and extended towards the back of the neck about 2 inches. It also had a tiny ding on the headstock and a pinhole in the finish on the back. The setup was terrible and it had a raised fret, but after I tapped down and recrowned the fret, and deepened the string slots on the nut, it plays like a dream. A big step up from the JB Player mandolin I have been learning on the past 6 months. The poor JB has gone trough a lot. It was stepped on at a camp jam and had to be reglued in multiple places, but it got the job done. I will need to amplify the Kentucky, so I am looking at the JJB pickup since it is cheap and gets good reviews. If I don't like it, I'll pick up a K&K.

Nice mando-- enjoy it.
I have JJB's in two mandolins and love them. For $20ish bucks you really can't go wrong.
