I recently saw "Red wanting Blue" the singer used a tenor Gibson guitar, interesting tone and decent band.

Here's another band that used a tenor, the Mills Brothers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_Knzwe15PY)!

And Nick Reynolds of the Kingston Trio played tenor guitar. There's even a Martin Nick Reynolds commemorative model http://www.kingstontrio.com/pdfs/nick_reynolds_guitar.pdf

One of my favorite bands is The Two Man Gentleman Band. The frontman, Andy B, plays both tenor guitar and tenor banjo. They are really fun with lots of clever songs. http://www.thetwogentlemen.com/

John Mills Jr. died of pneumonia in 1936, at which point his dad, John Sr., joined the Mills Bros. as bass singer and they hired a backup guitarist who played six-string, not tenor. A lot of the group's success came after this change took place, so Junior's tenor playing is not well remembered.

In their early years the Ink Spots, influenced by the Mills Bros., also accompanied themselves on as many as three tenor guitars, along with a cello plucked like a string bass.

I'm enjoying the playing of Andy Bean of the Two Man Gentlemen Band from Los Angeles, putting his jazz banjo background to good use:

(edit) whoops, jscholl beat me to it.

Not a band, but Jimmy, from the original Mickey Mouse Club, played a tenor guitar.

How did Nick Reynolds tune his tenor in the Kingston Trio?
