In a post a while ago, I believe Big Joe mentioned that he liked the Lite Freakishly Large V Pick for ukulele.
Of course I was ordering one from Vinnie within minutes. I have several thicker V Picks already, including the Jazz Mando version.
The only way I'd played my different ukes up 'til now was the traditional fingers (OK), and some leather picks of various sizes and shapes (not so good).
The "Freakishly Large" pick is between a ProPlec and a Dawg in profile, and about the same thickness. Nicely finished with a consistent bevel all-round - not speed beveled.
Nothing to be afraid of here.
How does it work on those nylon and Nylgut strings? In my opinion - really, really well, and I can tremolo!
Very smooth if you use a nice angled attack, and it produces a beautiful mellow tone.
Never thought I'd ever use a mandolin type pick or even a guitar pick on a ukulele, but I love this sound.
Can't wait to get my classical guitar back to see if I get the same results I'm getting on my baritone uke.
Thanks for the tip!
