This is a video taken this summer in Corsica while playing during a mass in our chapel.
I am playing my custom Weber Gallatin:

-cedar top / D-hole / brekke bridge / ivory saddle / block inlay / one-piece quilted maple back / custom "apocalypse" blue gloss finish / L.R. Baggs pick-up

Very nice. Don't know if it was the acoustics but that oval hole has a very focused, f-hole like tone. Love the upgrades.

I agree John. I think the tone is modified a lot by the brekke bridge and the ivory, it brings a bit more balance to the cedar in my opinion.

Sounds gorgeous, lovely instrument and lovely playing - definitely agree that it has a very focused tone to it - I had a lovely Custom Gallatin F that I still regret selling to this day!

Cheers,
Jill

Beautiful mandolin and excellent playing.
This mandolin seems to incorporate the best tonal characteristics of both ff-hole and oval hole instruments. Very nice!
Thank you so much for posting.

My cousin's wife's family is from Corsica and I have been lucky enough to have visited them in Corsica 2x. For me the island is intertwined with my love for the mandolin. I have written 3 gypsy songs that emanate from Corsica and have that minor feel that comes from the island's music. Maybe next summer....

Your Weber sounds wonderful and has a coolness factor to boot. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks chasray! I have yet to hear a mandolin that blends the tone of cedar top with a "D-hole", a brekke bridge, and an ivory saddle, it is perhaps unique in the world... (correct me if I am wrong...) plus the coolness factor came at no extra cost. Can't beat that!
