All,

I was introduced to the mandolin back in the early 80's and knew that someday I had to have one. So last March I bought this one from Janet Davis and started teaching myself. I've been using some instructional video's from "Watch and Learn" and enjoy them. Now I think I will try Rick William's 25 mandolin solos book and CDs. Video taping myself playing is nerve racking so there are more mistakes than usual. My favorite beverage didn't help either. I'm still slow but speed will come in time. I broke a string recently and the music store only had steel strings and learned that I don't like them. I will be buying some J74s soon. Anyway, it is a hell of a lot of fun to play. Someday an American made mandolin will own me...

I have been taking lessons with Rick for several months now and I highly recommend his teaching style and it reflects well in his book. Im really enjoying his arrangements in the book and playing along with the CDs.
