View Full Version : Restored Stridente - look away now if you don't like bling!
Here we go - a newly restored Stidente mandolin - this one had the works: top removal, neck removal, new fingerboard (complete with traditional bar frets), and a good deal of new MOP to replace edging that had long been lost, a thread showing some of the work in progress is here (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?74059-The-curse-of-the-banana-neck!):

Beautiful! Great work as always, John. Not too much bling for me, particularly if it is this well integrated as a whole. The MOP almost reads as lace filagree or script. One detail I like on this Stridente, which I have also seen elsewhere, is the contrasting wood rim round the lip of the bowl towards the neck side. What did you use for the finish?
Bravo!
Mick
Finish is shellac as always,
Cheers, John.

Incredibly nice work. Always appreciated when you show these off.
