This one was built for a friend of mine and she has been playing it for about a month now. It was built using red spruce for the top and sugar maple one piece back, sides and a two piece neck. Varnished finish with James tailpiece and hand made ebony bridge.
I'll get a sound clip from her soon and I will post it.

Thanks, this one was a fun project that the owner gave me compete freedom to build with the materials I thought would be best for her. The top has some bear claw in it so it really looks good with the one piece back. Also the sound is maturing really well and I can't wait to hear her in another couple of months...

Wow! This is probably the best looking mando I have ever seen (not that I'm very experienced in such matters). Great work, Mr Aleyas

Looks good. Do you have any photos that really show what it looks like?

Your first photos were beautiful but I am glad you posted these. I think they are more representative of what the instruments look like.
They still look good.

Nice! This is the one that was at IBMA's?

The band was "No One You Know" I believe...

I just remembered to post a clip of the mandolin... and here it is. This was my brother and me messing around before I delivered it to the new owner. It was about two days old in the video.

That is a great sounding 2 day old! Lovely and dry/woodsy sound.

What strings and pick were you using? (I find this has a lot to do with what we hear, and I'll always ask).

It surely has a wonderful future.

Well done!

Thanks Malcom,

That's actually my brother playing the mando and I am trying to keep up on the guitar. As far as the strings go, those were J75. I normally build them up with D'Addario either J74 or J75. And as for the pick, I'm not sure if he is using a Wegen or a Blue Chip in that clip. He plays with both and changes between them, he like the shape a Wegens better but feels the Blue Chip has a little better tone.

As for its future... It has matured quite a bit over the past few months and has really evened out tonally. Johnny Staats played about a month ago and he liked the sound of it.

Thanks again!

Ta for the info!

Now you'll tell me that you built that beautiful guitar you're playing?

Well... the guitar was the second instrument that I built, it's about three years old now and sounds pretty good. I leave it at my brothers house so there is something to play when I stop by.
