Thanx. I just gained a day, thought it was Wednesday.

Whew! :whistling: Dodged a bullet there. Loar dying on Monroe's birthday would have been too much coincidence.

Here's (http://www.siminoff.net/pages/loar_background.html) Lloyd Loar's bio off Roger Siminoff's site for anyone that hasn't seen it.

NF is pretty good about birthdays. In general, they tend to get noticed more, and celebrated more, and of course more often, than dying days. At least, that's been my experience.

Lloyd's death (http://www.mandolincafe.com/cgi-bin/thisday/search?month=September&day=14) was already part of This Day in History on original launch back in April 2008. He's mentioned frequently (http://www.mandolincafe.com/cgi-bin/thisday/browse?search=lloyd+loar) within that resource. The posting on the forum some of you see is simply a random selection of that day's events. NewsFetcher is a computer task tied to a forum acount, not a person, although if you talk disparagingly of it I've seen it become depressed.

Will NewsFetcher start substituting 1's for 0's if we make it angry?

Try the Zoloft shell for Debian and Fedora C3.

It would not be a good thing if anything computer-related were to begin to exhibit signs of being depressed or angry. Think of the drubbing Watson gave the human Jeopardy! experts - and that was just a game. (Tune in tonight for the rerun of the final.) If a computer gets depressed and just goes to 0's, where would we be? At least NewsFetcher hasn't figured out -1 yet. That could be real trouble! :disbelief:

Hmmmm. Suggesting Lloyd Loar was "a cut above" Antonio Stradivari?? Now that's radical. Nice article, though.

I've always wondered if Loar ever got to see or hear Bill Monroe? Bill was already on the Grand Ol Opry before Loar passed, so it's possible.

Those of us that follow Chris Thile's tweets were treated to a picture of the reunion of consecutive Loars.

Please note that you will have to be logged in to twitter to view the photo.

For what it's worth, I think Chris is worth following.
