If you're a fan of Monroe's music (and Wakefield's for the matter) this is a must have recording. Frank plays so much like Monroe it's scary. Listen to Bluegrass Breakdown and then listen to the same tune on the Monroe 16 Gems recording. Frank nails it and his Loar sounds wonderful! There's a good dose of Frank in here too but he pretty much sticks to the Monroe doctrine as it were. Not to mention you get to hear Tom Ewing, Audie Blaylock, and Tom Mindte sing. Even though I had just left the Monroe Mandolin Camp and was slightly bummed about having to return to reality I was smiling the entire drive home while listening to this cd. You won't be disappointed!
