Just for information: there is a nice Web site for Brazilian mandolinist Jacob do Bandolim, here (click) (http://www.jacobdobandolim.com.br/). Unfortunately it's only in Portuguese, but if anyone here is interested, i'm available to help.

For example, there is some nice sheet music there.

Thanks for the tip. I'm learning "Receite de Samba" right now. What a great musician. Ciao.

Yes, great sound. I read on that site that they've finished making digital copies of all of his recorded music, and are working now on publishing all the written music. It should be interesting. It's a bummer that my family is not in Rio anymore; i'd love to go check out their inventory.

g,

The latest Mandolin Quarterly has the notation for "Receite" in it's pages. They have a lot of choro compositions featured in the past issues.

New stuff on the site:

MP3s to listen to (http://www.ijb.org.br/jacob/oucajacob.php), including studio and home recordings, interviews, etc.
The only known video of Jacob (http://www.ijb.org.br/jacob/video/jacob.mpg) (fragment of a TV interview in the late 1960s -- unfortunately, without the sound).

Good stuff.
