Hi all!

I haven't post here much, but now I feel like I have something to share.
I got my new 10-string bandolim few days ago. I ordered it at the beginning of May from amazing Finnish luthier Anders Liljeström. The idea was to build a bit like traditional design and add something modern into it. I think Anders has really good taste in design and lots of great ideas.
I'm really happy with what I got, amazing work and marvelous sound.
You can find more info and pics about the project(and all other works of Anders) from Anders' blog, here: http://uudetlaulut.blogspot.com/

Cheers,

Wow, that is some fine craftsmanship and design. Reminds me a bit of the modern ouds that are being built nowadays.

Very nice! Does that have slight fan frets? I can't tell from the photos.

No, there's no fan frets. The scale is 14.07" so it's a bit longer than normal.

I guess there is some slight distortion in the photo. I, too, would love to hear some clips. Do you play choro on it?

Yes, I play mostly choro, but Scandinavian folk music as well. Actually I'm studying Scandinavian folk music, but in Brazil there is much more stronger tradition with mandolin.

I did a quick clip that you can hear the sound a bit. I will do better quality recordings later.
Enjoy:

Very nice playing, Mikko, and that is one of my favorite choro tunes. Also, what is that 12 string instrument on the sofa behind you? Is that what we call a mandolino/soprano lute?

Thank you Jim. The instrument behind me is 11-string(one tuner is not used) Iraqi Oud-lute.

Interesting. Where did you get that arrangement of Floraux?

Can you print from your head? :)

The only other version I have seen/heard was Tim Connell's.
