Hi. A fellow musician has been admiring one of my mandolins, a 1977 Ibanez 524 F-5. Seeing that I have acquired quite a few mandolins over the years, I am considering letting it go, but am unsure what to ask. He's not really a "friend" so he doesn't qualify for that discount... just an acquaintance. I've tried searching online, but have only found one for sale for $1995.00. I don't know if that's the norm, overpriced, or what. You guys really seem to know your stuff, so what do you think? I've included photos to help you out.

Thanks, in advance.

I've found a couple references to 524's for sale around $650, so I'd say $2K is quite high! The Ibanez Mandolins website (http://ibanezmandolin.com/) describes it as the "most common" of the Ibanez F-models. You might want to lower your sights a bit...

I never noticed this before but I can't believe the Ibanez inlay is almost identicle to the inlay Don MacRostie uses for many of his mandolins.
