Sorry to rehash this topic again, but I am adding a slight twist to it (I think): any thoughts on which videos from Bush, Baldassari, White, or others might be good for an intermediate level player that knows diddly about BG?* #I usually prefer book/CD combos, but I was thinking a DVD might be a good tool as an intro to BG technique. #

(*Well, I guess I know a little about BG: I believe Big Mon "invented" it, I enjoyed Del McRoury and Ricky Skaggs when I saw them live last month, and I know Nickel Creek is not BG, but that's about it. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif )

Note: Butch has a new offering out on his web site as input to this discussion:
Butch Baldassari's Bluegrass Mandolin Workshop (http://www.soundartrecordings.com/moremandolinworkshop.shtml)

I have the Bluegrass Jamming DVD from Pete Wernick. If you are looking for instruction in terms of techinque and what not then this is not for you.

What this DVD is step up to due is to introduce you to BG jams; jam etiquette, handy jamming hints, etc. Its for all bluegrass instruments so it is kind of nice. They just play the song and leave a "hole" were you can play your own break. It is real good if you don't have any other folks to play with.
