Thatīs a nice video of a very nice (yet a little green) sounding mandolin.

I found Herchel Sizemoreīs musical comparison between the Altman mandolins and his Loar quite informing. Videoīs are fickle things and the sound you hear on a video is nothing compared to the real live listening experience. Yet this video gives some impression. The Altmans sound quite good. The Loar has yet a lot more clarity, punch and "zing".

(When I picked up my mandolin in the morning I was disapointed to not hear zing, punch and projection and I had to fight the mando a bit. But itīs quite warm here so the strings are worn from the last weeks, so I should blame it on myself; my mandolin treats me very well when I treat it well)

That was fun, thanks. Herschel played my Randy Wood a few years back and was very complimentary. It was a treat.
