Never removed from the case. Not even for the photo where it's leaning on the case.

Also comes with Black Diamond original strings. 38-year-old ones?

Carmelo Catania in Sicily made everything from nice high-quality instruments to cheap tourist junk. I'm not an expert on their stuff, but this looks like a lower-end model.

But the Black Diamond Strings are original, that means that they were made in 1890.

I have stuff like that. A complete darkroom packed away in crates and stored in my attic--A piece of machinery that I have intended to restore for so long that I'd be embarrassed to say for how long. I even have a couple of musical instruments that I hang on to but never play, like the piano. This guy might have been thinking that maybe one day he'd try and learn to play the thing but it never happened and now he realizes it never will.

Exactly, I been wanting to get me some vintage "Mandolin Tips" for my Harley Drag Pipes.
