Can anyone give me a clue as to the origin of this mandolin. bought through MOntgomery-Ward mail order in the mid to late 1930s. It cost $25 new. Pressed, not carved, arch top and back with cross bracing, no truss rod.

It would be nice to have some closer pictures but from what I can see it appears to be a Regal reverse scroll model. If it's in good shape and original about $300.00, maybe a little more on a good day, $100.00 to $200.00 on a bad day. If you have the original receipt that's pretty cool as well. How about posting some closer pictures including a shot of the headstock front and back and the back of the mandolin as well. It was made in Chicago.

Is the body shaped like this (http://www.frets.com/fretspages/Museum/Mandolin/Regal/RegalPearloid/regalpearloid.html) one?

Thanks for the info. Thought it was a Regal, or perhaps a Stradolin. Still plays and sounds good. The body is a reverse scroll like the item you posted. Headstock is plain; no labels or numbers to be found. I learned how to play on this little axe almost 50 years ago.
