I attended the Joe Val Festival in Massachusetts last weekend and went away with these thoughts:

# Workshop by Adam Steffey showed that not only can he play but very nice guy. #He said the Gibson he now has is no different than one you would buy from Gibson other than cutoff fingerboard. #

# Workshop by Skip Gorman covered Bill Monroe tunes and he can play them as good as anyone. #Check out his new CD. #

# Many ToneGards in use by Steffey and jammers.

# Everett Lilly, age 80 #from The Lilly Bros and Flat & Scruggs made a guest appearance and still has it.

# King Wilkie band, a bunch of young guys in suits are certainly one of the best young bands around. #By the way, King Wilkie was the name of Bill Monroes stallion.

# Young jammer named Bryce (didn't get last name), age 11 from the Philadelphia area is the next Chris Thile and has jammed with Chris and Mike Marshall.

# Great Festival by the Boston Bluegrass Union.

The BBU has been doing a good job for a long time of promoting bluegrass up here in Boston.

For those close enough to Boston to participate, the BBU has other ongoing events through the year, including concerts, jams, adult education classes, kids jams, and school presentations. more details here:

BTW, Bryce's last name is Milano, and believe me, you're going to be hearing more about him!
