... but he's a heckuva nice guy. He took a look at my whistle website then wrote to me asking if I could use some old Bolivian Rosewood that he's had lying around for a long time. Today I got a box with some really nice pieces that will become pennywhistles in the next couple of months. Thanks Stephen!

Brazilian rosewood, from Brazil. Old scrap from Martin, 1960s vintage. I got it thinking I'd turn some flutes or something, but I really can't deal with Brazilian much since I had a vacuum failure that blew Brazilian dust into my eyes. Great reaction!

You're most welcome. Thought it should be a musical thing of some kind!

This is fantastic. Always great to see the cafe community coming together.

I've always found instrument makers to be very generous, both of materials and knowledge. Over on Ukulele Underground (the Mandocafe of the Uke world) I asked about sources of Koa wood to make some whistles, and one of the finest high end Uke makers sent me some gorgeous pieces.
