Nice job EastMountain! How is the neck and neck joint on yours?

I like the torteloid binding on it. Subtle but attractive.

I made the buttons from an oak dowel rod, stained with dark walnut. I like the tortoiseshell binding too. It is the only Kay I've see with this color. Most are either white or checked black and white.

How is the neck and neck joint on yours?

Like nearly every Kay neck joint I've seen, there were problems. I removed the neck and the joint was ill-fit, and mostly dry as if there was only glue applied in one part of one side of the dovetail joint. Also, the neck did not seat into the bottom of the pocket; there was a significant gap. I cleaned up the dovetail as best I could and glued in shims to make a tighter fit. It wasn't perfect; there was still a hairline seam where the neck meets the body, but it was solid when I was done. It ain't going nowhere for a few decades.

The neck itself as straight and true. Needed fret leveling and dressing, but that was it.
