Looking for help as I'm having a total brain fart on this one:

What is the real name for the tune behind The Gourd's "Lion's Mane" song on their soundtrack for the "Growing a Beard" documentary (about the annual Donegal beard contest in Shamrock, Texas)? It is a very common tune, at least here in the states, as it has been used for years/decades as stock background music for cartoons and TV adverts to invoke an Irish feel.

You can hear the song in Amazon's tune sampler at this link (http://www.amazon.com/Gourds-Growin-Beard-Various-Artists/dp/B000274TQC) as track 1 (scroll down the page to find the tune sampler). In track 2 at this link, you can hear the band's take on the A and B parts of the original tune without their lyrics from track 1 -- although instead of using its real name, the track is simply called "Lion's Mane Instrumental".

I ask because my five year old Aidan heard this the other day when I was playing the soundtrack in the car (we're both big Gourds fans), and he blurted out when it was over "I love that song -- play it again Daddy!" That really warmed my heart, so I'm working on the tune from the recording so that I can play it for him, but I would like to know its proper name so I can pass that on to him with the tune, as well as find the dots or an ABC file of the tune to fine-tune my transcription of the Gourds' version.

Thank you :mandosmiley:

Irish washer woman is definitely the A part, the B part however is different (possibly their own creation?)

"B" part suggests Lanigan's Ball, somewhat reworked.
