Any tips, threads or links to information that explains a lot of the particulars about the different mandolin instruments? I've been playing an A style with F holes and have also checked out oval hole mandolins, but wondered about Octave and Mandolas, etc... and what to expect as far as differences in playing them and the way they sound.

I've picked up some information searching thru posts, but wondered if there was a place that has it all in one place?

Thanks

Here's a great link to a page on The Acoustic Music Co. website that spells it all out:

Trevor's Mandolin Family Explained page (http://www.theacousticmusicco.co.uk/index.php/about-tamco/the-mandolin-family.html)

Cheers,
