Once again, I submit my Silverangel family..The angel w/harp is a Silver Eagle, the plain one is a distressed F-5 Silverangel, and the A Model w/upraised arm is a Ratclliff. Hard to beat...

Bruce,
Is that your Schneider? It seems very similar to Dix Bruce's Schneider that he plays on the Gypsy Swing for Mandolin books...

That is a sweet F4!

Ultimate mando eye-candy? Hmmm... Seems I recall a certain picture of Milla Jovovich with a mandolin that our fearless leader Scott Tichenor sent to me. Quite memorable it was!

I'm incredibly biased so I'll offer up the work of Brian Dean and the Labraid instruments (http://www.labraid.ca/). These aren't your typical maple under spruce F5s. Not that the others shown aren't lovely. I particularly like how Brian flutes his bowls and the carving on the headstocks.

SternART's former Malibu burst Monteleone A5 deserves a mention in here I think.

Stop it y'all! I'm a die-yen he-yah. :crying:
Well OK. If you insist. Keep it going. All of us have to have a dream.
Have been having a terrible case of MAS the last few months. So much so I decided to start a serious mandolin fund. All of this is making me want to save more dead presidents more quickly than before.
What an addiction I have chosen to have due to the beauties on this site. This thread in particular.

I'd go with these 2 - a Jonathan McLanahan "Trinity" & for the 'ultimate' back view, the rear of an "Arches" F-4 in Walnut. The "Trinity" is one of the most 'elegant' instruments i've ever seen & the back of the F-4 is simply edible !!,
Ivan

Boy! Makes me wanna go out an make one myself. The ole F5 that is, or at least an F4. I guess I'll haffta. I've resisted for years but this is a challenge!

At least it doesn't use that much wood. I can get two F style mandos for one big Zook!

Dan's Wiens is my favorite all time, although some of Tom Ellis' and Andrew Mowry's instruments are up there too.

Here are a few that I think of more often than not, whenever the topic of eye candy comes up:
A) I really like the exagerated onion shape of John Mixon's creations
B) I love the color and modern soundholes on this Holst (would complement a Monteleone style scroll nicely IMHO)
C) Only two things are lacking on this '57 Mandocaster that would otherwise make it the perfect emando: a countour body, and a C course
D) The concept and execution of this all-blonde Shippey is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time

Andy Poe's take on the classic Army/Navy pancake design has always been a favourite of mine...

I like vivid colors and interesting shapes as well as very intricate artwork on mandolins in the gawking department. Wouldn't want one though.

First one is a Holst mandolin. I just love the bright colors on it and the curves are so cool. Next one is a Cytole Mandolin my Brian Dean. The artwork in and around the soundhole is phenomenal. And the last one is an "in progress" shot. I've always been a sucker for those. It might be of the Holst but I'm not sure. I just love the crisp, clean look of this on e in the white.

I popped in this thread to post pics of my Asymmetrical Holst and am thrilled to see that it has already been posted by crazymandolinist....and yes the in the white pic is of the Asymmetrical showing the cocobolo binding nicely. Here are the pics I was going to add to this thread. Some great pics in this thread....too many good ones out there...

if i owned one, i'd post it ... classic, elegantly understated, consistently beautiful instruments

this is a "how long is a piece of string" type thread, however.

How about this. Check out that walnut side and the gloss. Nice instrument, whereabouts unknown. I'm always sad when I lose track of them. :crying:

I do not own a Campanella mandolin, but I do think that this Due 2-Point with a violin-style armrest (http://www.themusicemporium.com/product-detail/product/campanella-due-2-point-varnish-wcalton-case.html) is one of the most striking, classy mandolins I've seen!
