Just found out yesterday that Adam Steffey will soon be sporting a new axe. Was talking with my buddy Sim Daley last night and he confirmed that Adam was just by his shop to work out the details on his soon to be built Daley mandolin. Needless to say, Sim is on cloud 9 to have such a high profile player soon to be playing one of his instruments. Can't wait to hear one of Sim's mandolins in Adam's hands.

Adam just can't make up his mind can he? Let's see: Sullivan, Gilchrist, Apitius, Gibson, and now a Daley!
Don't reckon he's got MAS.... do ya'!?? ; naaaa... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Yeah, it's nice to know that even the best of the best, who can sound great on anything, aren't immune from MAS.

I think for a professional player, possibly it is more like finding your own voice.

Very cool - Steffey is one of the best of the best!
I know Sim must be fired up to have Steffey playing one of his mandolins. Daley mandolins, in my opinion, are among the best.

How can he just go out and get a different mando to play when Gibson is making a mando with his name on it?
ADHD?!?

The Gibson deal was for only 50 mandolins as I understand it and those mandolins have all been built for some time now. Maybe sometimes a Gibson ain't good enough... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
he can play anything he wants...........he can afford it. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Kinda off subject, which mando did Steffey play while with AKUS? Specifically everytime you say goodbye.

On "Everytime You Say Goodbye" he is playing his Gilchrist.
And that Gilchrist, an early one, is a dandy, as I know the current owner and have picked it.
Celebrate diversity. Especially when it comes to mandolins!

Well, I talked to Sim two weeks ago and I was about 5 months out (from my original 11-12 months out). Reckon I'm another month out now? I know if I was a builder and had a chance to build Mr. Steffey a mandolin which will increase my mandolins' name recognition and reputation, I would skip over a few guys in line. But I haven't talked to Sim since this development and I don't know that he is planning to do that. However, I don't mind if he does skip me ONE mandolin. Especially if it increases the value of the mandolin I have on order! <g>

I wonder if Sim builds more than one at a time? I have ready where other builders build 2 or so at a time. I have run into folks who have already heard of Sim when they see my mando. It has a Steffey Gibson like dark sunburst on it. You can see a picture of it on Sim's site in the recent visitors section. Dan Tyminski is holding it.
