Finally took some pictures of my new friend! It's a 2006 I bought at Cotten's in Nashville. Sounds as sweet as it looks...

Is that a Weber Brekke bridge?

I love the wood bindings and the whole vibe of the instrument just says "quality."

Is that a Weber Brekke bridge?

Peter Coombe has posted previously about ideas he's developed for modifying the Brekke bridge. As I recall, his modifications involve some drilling and hollowing to reduce the mass of the bridge. From the photo, the bridge does look very much like a Brekke with some holes added.

Congratulations John, beautiful mandolin.
Outstanding attention to detail, and I agree with Don about the wood binding. Very nice indeed.

Here is a video to check out how it sounds: http://vimeo.com/20447824

Forgive the slow play and missed notes. I was mainly interested in the video and audio quality. I've been a photographer and videographer a lot longer than a mandolin player. I describe the process in the comments at Vimeo.

Peter makes lovely mandolins and you sure got one. That video looks great. The mandolin sounds quite nice as well.

Thanks for sharing and enjoy!

Well done. I like to hear a song played at "normal" speed...the speed that most of us beginners can play it at. Love the tone of your mandolin!

Great sound and video quality. Super tone out of that mandolin; enjoy playing it for years to come!

Thanks Jeff. My mantra right now is to play slow enough to at least get most of the notes clear and clean and stay in time. This wasn't perfect, but it reflects where I'm at. It is encouraging to have a nice instrument that when you do get it right really rewards the effort!
