This is my latest mando. Its got a red spruce top with bigleaf everywhere else. Its got an oil varnish over a shellac seal coat. It seems the varnish has warmed up the tone keeping it a little less bright.

Great looking mandolin! I like the binding on the scroll. Looks elegant.

very nice looking...what kind of angle do you have on the neck?....looks like the bridge is up there a good ways..nothing wrong with that...I like it....sometimes it gives it a bigger pop...

It's about 5 degrees neck angle. I carved the top of the arch slightly lower then I usually do hoping to achieve a particualr tone I was after. I actually lowered the bridge back down some after doing some set up work. Scotti you are right a higher bridge really gives it some more power.

Thanx guys,

Lane it sounds great it has a really sweet tone all around. I think the varnish warms the tone up a bit, its got a strong thumpy bass and trebles cut really well but are not harsh at all. I was kinda sad to see it go.
