Looks like another great Ward Elliott mando. I have a blacktop A style that I absolutely love. The tone and detail work is great. It plays as easy as any mandolin that I have played. Good luck and enjoy the new mando, I know you will love it........

Hi Jim,

Ward is just finishing up an A model for me. I think he is trying to do the finish work on both at the same time. Your F model looks fantastic. He has promised to send pictures to me later this week of my A "in the white" and I'll add them to this post if you would like. Although the wait hasn't been nearly as long as some folks have to wait, it's really hard to be patient.

Here are a couple pictures right after it was stained, but no sealer or varnish applied yet. It looks "dull" now, but it gives a hint of things to come.
It hardly looks dull now. It's gorgeous.

Ben used a UV box to dry mine too...but seven coats still takes a while to cure....seemed like it took 3-4 weeks even with the box...Of course we were having alot of rain there for a couple of weeks...driving that humidity up. That probably figured into the drying time too. #40 is coming along beautifully...I ablsolutley love it...so much so that I didnt even get #6 out of the case at the show we played last weekend....thanks for asking Jim.

..sounds good...mine is oil varnish..some recipe he got from a old family of violin builders....I guess the recipe is hundreds of years old. Just to make it interesting #40 is only his second varnished mando to date...remember..hes only 24 yrs old http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif..but its perfect...no inperfections no where. And I'll tell you what..there aint nothing like opening up that case and smelling varnish instead of lacquer...not to say lacquer is a bad thing...theres just something magical about varnish. My little girl let the TV remote control fall out of her hand(actually she threw it) as I was playing...yep you guessed it...it landed right on the top of #40...I thought...well theres the first big ding...I looked...nothing...not one iota of a mark..the stuff is durable and strong but breathable.

Oh My God, I don't think I've ever seen a mandolin as pretty as that. The wood is beautiful and if this mando sounds as good as it looks it will be a hoss for sure. Congrats Jim.

Yep, don't go playing the mandolin on the way home and be driving with your knee. And do post some more pics... don't you just love seeing the new mandos coming home? It's like bringing the baby home from the hospital, complete with new noises, much pampering, and lack of sleep.
