One of them happens to be Lloyd LaPlant of Grand Rapids, MN who also builds one of the best mandolins available anywhere. Mr. Fellman has a video clip of Lloyd that you can view at http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=128400157284 There are a number of Forum entries that describe Lloyd and his instruments, but this video adds to them by giving you insight into what kind of a person he is.
His annual weekend jam session, the third weekend of June, at the Itasca County fairgrounds in Grand Rapids is well worth a visit. Jam sessions, an open stage, and a Saturday potluck dinner make this a great way to spend a weekend. Camping is available at the fairgrounds. This is the land of 10,000 lakes so bring your boat and fishing gear. The fish are hungry!
