On some Fairport Convention albums from the 90s, Maart plays something called a "bouzar," or more specifically a Stefan Sobell bouzar. I'm having trouble finding reference to such an instrument with this name, so I'm guessing it's really just Maart's own concatenation of bouzouki-guitar. Anybody know for sure?

I'm guessing it looks something like this:

I've usually seen it spelled "bazar" for some reason. Sobell lists them on his website under cittern, but I don't think there are any pictures: http://www.sobellinstruments.com/
He describes it as
Guitar-bouzouki: Model 3 Flat-top guitar body with 8 or 10 string bouzouki neck. 16 frets to the body. .Soundboard: European spruce. Back and sides: Rosewood or cocobolo

There are some makers in Australia who make "guitzoukis" or "guizoukis". You can see some here:

Maart's is a Sobell guitar-bodied zook.. He made those for a while in the 90s (probably still does.. around that time Andy Irvine and Ciaran Curran of Altan were spotted with them)
