I just aquired a Martin bowlback style 6 with inlaid Handel tuners like on the early Gibsons. Has anyone here seen any other Martins with Handel tuner knobs ?

Yes. Handel tuners were used by many makers. They were not unique to Gibson. Here's (http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Museum/Mandolin/Martin/Martin6/martin6.html) a Style 6 with Handel Tuners on Frank Ford's www.frets.com.

My style 6 has pearl tuners but is from 1902. I would imagine later ones (like 1913) could have Handels. Mine is on the opening page of this thread (http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?1898-Post-a-Picture-of-Your-Bowlback-%28or-any-others%29). I invite you to post some pics of yours there.

BTW the fancier instruments of Joseph Bohmann often had Handels but they were a little different from the ones we see on Gibsons.

I was actually going to post this (http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Museum/Mandolin/Bohmann/1901bohmann.html) link to a Bohmann on www.frets.com as well. I had one with Handel tuners on it as well.

Here is a comparison. The Martin's is closer to the Gibson style.
