Everyone knows that our instruments will outlive us. With the holiday spirit in mind, post a pic of the instruments that are close to your heart.
Aside from my wife and daughters and grandkids..these are my baby's

Over the years I have built many mandolins that were loaded with fancy work and sounded great but for me personally the simplicity of an A-type built from master grade materials and no adornment is the ultimate in what a fine instrument should be.

Sure is a nice sunburst on that one Lefty.

My Spira and my Labraid are prized possessions I look forward to handing down to the next aspiring player. Jack and Brian both bring honor and credit to luthery.

Here are a bunch I am the current owner of. My 07 Collings D2H and my Monteleone, My D2h with the fiddle that my Great Grandpa Andrew Knettle made in Chatham Ontario in the 50s ( my main fiddle. It was in 14 pieces when I got it!) My Collings D1HAVnSunburst Varnish that took 10 months to get after I ordered it, and the Hondduran Mahogany flamed back (WOW!) and the SUPER fancy Two colour Calton Pollock'd case that Calton painted for me. One on my 5 Kay Kraft guitars (I run the Kay Kraft Guitar Facebook page. These two points consume my life!)

Just cheap instruments, but I really like them. The stick is an overtune flute called tilinko, no fingerholes, uses a natural overtone scale.

Lots of time, friendship, and enjoyment invested in my Henderson. It will definitely be in the family longer than I will. :)

Got this puppy for Christmas and the 'rent' is pretty reasonable when you consider....

Post a pic of the instruments you love and are drinking. Sorry just rote the first thing wat came into my head. But seriously this is a great thread as it shows that go to instruments are a big part of the players personality. People use them for different reasons. Mine for instance are used for recording not live gigging and the tone is and appearance chosen for that reason. One certainly does not fit all. nice. drink anyone ?
My Campanella - sounds better and better!

drooling over your "A" Campanella. My feeling is: when I'm gone my instruments are being buried with me. But that may change. Depends on what instrument my daughter plays. :)

That Doublewood is some fine whisky. Love the octave mandolin, and that Campanella...wow! It has the look for sure.

Ditto on the Doublewood. But that Fylde Touchstone OM - I have played them and I really like the sounds they make.

The sound even improves with the amount of Doublewood applied (not to the OM of course) ;)

Beautiful Jill! Congratulations on those two.
The finish on the Weber is really nice!
While more expensive/collectable instruments may come and go (or become closet Queens) this is the pair held most closly to the heart, the ones that get the job done without complaint and let the spirit soar!
The workhorses......
1981 Martin custom shop unit. We've made two transAtlantic crossing under sail, got chased through the south Louisiana swamps by hurricane Andrew. A very remarkable instrument!
2004 McClanahan Via Dolorsa. Always there for another OMG moment!

That one is really looking well distressed. Funny how the bright spot on the right seems to mimick the shape of a pickguard :disbelief::cool:

Well, more great Wintergrass jam sessions ruined when Mandopete shows up with his new "Bluegrass" kazoo. It was bad enough when he had the plastic one, but at least it didn't have enough volume to dominate the jam like the new, metal "hot rod" one will.:)
