Fletcher's a little too modest to put his own creations up, so here's #100, a torch and wire sweetie:

64753 64752

Finished this September, it's one of the last of his Adi spruce before switching to Engelmann.

That's class right there. Love the torch and wire. Love the big block fretboard inlay.

I'm lusting after one of his guitar bodied Octave Mandolins.

I had the pleasure to play that mandolin and a couple others made at the same time, and they all sound as good as they look. Enjoy!

A very beautiful Mandolin indeed. Are the neck & headstock wider than normal,or is it just the way the pics.show them ?,

They are normal. The block inlay may make the neck seem wider.

I posted these a while back, here it is for comparison with it's litter mates:

Now you see, that's the beauty of living in Idaho, where a lot of great mandolins are coming from these days. In my neck of the woods, we're known for our lovely used toxic tire ponds, one being potentially the deepest in the world. Other great industries include used car parts (mostly from stolen cars), and fortunately, good pizza.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments, though I obviously had nothing to do with it. The neck is normal width, and sound-wise, the main thing I was looking for was balance across the strings, and a more bell-like tone with sustain. As it gets played in, it's doing all that perfectly. I actually love playing it with open strings ringing as you get these phantom chords from the drones on those open strings which refuse to stop ringing long after they're hit. Not a typical dark bluegrass choppy woofer. I'm a lucky guy, thanks to Fletcher.

That's a very well done mandolin. Beautiful.

Woah. Three good examples of what a proper trad. F5 should look like. Someone is very good at sunbursts too

Thanks Chip - It does appear to be a 'standard' width in your pics. (''The camera never lies'' - Oh, yeah !),
