A bit off topic, but there's a connection. I'd forgotten how far back Tonk Bros. went until I came across this Ad from 1887! At the bottom, you can see their name and the date. Most of us (me included) are probably more familiar with Tonk from their take-over of Lyon & Healy years later.

My favorites are #38 on the first one and #2263 on the third (Tonk) page. They look like martial arts apparati.

That number 38 pick looks a lot like the picks that (the Portland) tenor banjo player Seamus Egan uses - for those wicked fast triplets.
