I recently learned my first Cajun fiddle tune on mando ... lots of high energy fiddlin' to mimic ... I've just transcribed this tune Reel de Joie (http://www.mandozine.com/music/search_results.php?searchfor=reel+de+joie) in TablEdit and submitted it yesterday to MandoZine ... (If you're relatively new to playing the mandolin, you may not yet know that TablEdit displays/plays music files in tab, notation and midi, allowing you to play along with it at your own speed ... you'll need to have the free TEFView (http://www.tabledit.com/download/downlo_e.shtml) viewer to use the file)

Enjoy ...

Keepin' tuned ...

Niles also did the transcriptions for a tape series by Mike Doucet. In addition to practicing music (not TAB) reading, I find it helps me to concentrate on making music rather just running licks.
Very much worth seeking out the series.
