looking for online recording website

I'm looking for a website that will let me record a track, eg on mandolin and then let my guitar playing mate log in and lay a guitar track over it. A kind on online garage band that would allow anyone with the username and password to share tracks.

I've found sites that let me do this with loops but none that I can record straight onto. I realise we could use Audacity and email tracks to each other, but using the same online multitrack seems like a better idea.

Any help would be appreciated, we both have young families that keep us from finding practice time.

I believe Indaba Music allows online multi-track recording, though you have to pay for the privelege. I've been doing remote collaboration with a method similar to the Audacity/email method you described, but use a free Dropbox.com account to transfer files. (Allows up to 2 Gigabytes of storage, much more convenient for large files.) Good luck.
