Hi All, Here's a photo of my latest instrument, a Commodium. It was built by Keith Cary (http://www.keithcary.com/Keith Cary/Welcome.html). It has a standard length mandolin neck and uses a stainless steel (unused) bedpan for its resonating chamber and a National-style cone. Keith has a couple of links to YouTube videos of the commodium in action. Steve (www.ragtime-resource.com)62237

Congratulations. I've been jonesing for one of those for a couple years now. I hope you can make us a video or shoot some detail shots.

It will sound even better when the bridge has seated.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now and love it. It's great for pre-war blues and jug band music. Great tone! Did you get the #1 or #2 model?

Hi Fred -- I'm very happy with it. I don't know if it's a #1 or #2. I play a lot of ragtime tunes, so it's perfect for that. I've also started work on some of Rich DelGrosso's blues tunes that I got at this year's Mandolin Symposium in Santa Cruz. It took about 2 years to get, what with Keith's order backlog. Until I can find time to do it, there are more photos at Keith's website: http://www.keithcary.com/Keith%20Cary/Commodium.html .
He also has links to some great YouTube videos. Just Google "Youtube commodium" and it will get you to the Hokum Blues. Keith is playing cello and Bill Foss is playing commodium. It's almost too much fun! Steve (www.ragtime-resource.com)
